Tom Felton is set to wear the Slytherin coat once again as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child broadway stage show. Felton, who rose to fame with the character that he played from 2001 to 2011, will be making his broadway debut through the show. Interestingly, he is the first actor from the movie series to be cast in the stage play which first debuted in London's West End in 2016. It is written by Adolescence co-creator Jack Thorne.

The show is set 19 years after the events of the last book in JK Rowling's novel series which revolves around the lives of Draco, Harry, Ron and Hermione's children attending Hogwarts school.

It was a dream-come-true for Felton. This time, it came for the second time. "It's very much a pinch-me kind of situation," he said, adding, "I keep thinking I'm dreaming. I let go of that character 16 years ago, and now getting a chance to step back into his shoes—as a father this time, in a new story—I get to meet Draco as an adult, which is very exciting."

The actor is set to the cast at New York’s Lyric theatre from November 11 for 19 weeks. "It's surreal to be stepping back into his shoes -- and of course his iconic platinum-blond hair -- and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world," Felton added in his statement. "I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community," he said to People magazine. Felton also revealed that he got emotional and cried when he wore the costume after over a decade as the franchise was "such a huge part of my childhood."

The play was a commercial and critical success, selling more than 10 million tickets worldwide ever since its debut. The productions of the play are running in London, New York, Hamburg and Tokyo.

Felton's return has also excited the producers of the Broadway show. Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender noted that they were eager to watch Felton take on the role of Malfoy once again "with the same depth, gravity, and humanity he has always brought to Draco."

Tom Felton recently took to the West End stage in 2:22 A Ghost Story. Following his time in the Harry Potter films, he has been seen in Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and has had recurring roles in TV series like Murder in the First, The Flash, and Origin.
