Actor Cristin Milioti is currently busy promoting her new Netflix animated film, In Your Dreams, during which she has revealed details about a potential second season for The Penguin.
The series' lead, Colin Farrell, was not for another season to commence immediately, as he said, "I don't want it. I don't want it. We all left it in the ring in those eight hours. So I'm in no rush. I have no deep desire to do it," back in February to Variety.
Now, Cristin has said that she does not think too much about the possibility of another season. "I feel like I have zero chill about it because every time I'm asked about a Season 2, I'm like, 'Sign me up! I love series creator Lauren LeFranc so much. I love our whole cast. It's such an incredible group," said Milioti, who won an Emmy for her work in the DC Comics series.
HBO and Max head Casey Bloys previously told Variety in July that The Penguin creator LeFranc and executive producer Matt Reeves had discussed a second season. At the Emmys, Reeves made a confirmation that discussions had taken place but also said that his priority was The Batman with Robert Pattinson. As of now, the fate of The Penguin season 2 still hangs in the balance.
Meanwhile, in Netflix's In Your Dreams, Milioti plays the wife of Simu Liu's voice character, a couple who are on the verge of separation. Their children encounter the mythical Sandman in their night's dream and try to make him help keep the divorcing couple together.
Speaking about why she picked In Your Dreams, Milioti, who read the script in 2021, said, "It really moved me to think about how we deal with hardships and how we sometimes want things to be different, and how we navigate that."
Milioti believes animated films can tackle serious topics like marriage problems, citing classics like The Lion King and Bambi that deal with complex themes. "That is one of the most special things about this movie and about animation, too. It sort of begins this nuanced conversation with kids, like, 'This can be really hard and scary. This can feel like your world is falling apart, and it is changing. But it is not as scary as it might seem.'" In Your Dreams is currently streaming on Netflix.
