The Batman (2022) took its audiences back into the tough streets of Gotham city. Starring Robert Pattinson as the titular character, the film was well recieved by audiences and critics, during the time of its release. But after the film, the only entrant from the universe was The Penguin (2024).
The Penguin (2024) was a miniseries that was nominated for multiple Primetime Emmys, for the ceremony which ended recently. Speaking to Variety, Matt Reeves, who directed The Batman (2022) and was serving as an executive producer for the series, said, "We starting shooting (The Batman Part II), early next year or in April or May. I am really proud of the script that Mattson Tomlin and I did, and we've started to share it Robert."
Speaking about The Penguin (2024), which had Lauren LeFranc as the showrunner, Reeves said, "We're in discussions. Lauren is thinking hard and we’re talking, so we’ll see. We love the show, and we think our cast is so incredible. The work that Lauren and the writers did was incredible. Our passion was in it, but never in our wildest dreams could we imagine it would have been received in the way that it was.”
Among the multiple nominations that the show received, Cristin Milioti, who played the role of Sofia Falcone, won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series.
