Patrick Schwarzenegger has thrown his name into the ring to star as Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming American Psycho adaptation. Responding to an X (formerly Twitter) post on April 30 suggesting he’d be a perfect fit for the role, Schwarzenegger wrote, “I’d love nothing more.”

The White Lotus actor has also voiced interest in the part, once previously. Back in 2024, after Variety reported that Guadagnino was officially on board to direct a new version of American Psycho, Schwarzenegger commented on the news with a succinct but telling, “My dream.”

The highly anticipated project, first announced in October 2024, will be a fresh adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel. It will not be a remake of Mary Harron’s 2000 cult hit that starred Christian Bale. Contagion screenwriter Scott Z Burns is penning the script, with Lionsgate backing the production.

While Austin Butler was reportedly in talks to lead the film late last year, there have been no updates confirming his casting. Jacob Elordi was also rumored to be in the mix, though those discussions appear to have ended. With the lead still seemingly up for grabs, Schwarzenegger’s public enthusiasm could position him as a strong contender.

Schwarzenegger recently appeared in the third season of The White Lotus in which he was seen as Saxon Ratliff, the son of Jason Isaacs’s Timothy Ratliff and Parker Posey’s Victoria Ratliff. His last feature film was Stowaway in 2022.
