A video featuring a bee encounter on the red carpets of the Cannes Film Festival has been making the rounds on social media. A bee flew around Austin Butler and Emma Stone as they were posing for photos for the red carpet. While Butler tried to shoo it away, the fly inadvertently went towards Stone.
Now, Stone has clarified that Butler only tried to help her. Speaking about her Eddington co-star and the incident at Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she explained, “He was trying to blow it behind me! He is a sweetheart and a half—there is no way he wanted that bee in my face."
Further, she also pulled the leg of her other Eddington co-star, Pedro Pascal, saying, “I almost guarantee you, if anyone brought the bee, it was Pedro. He probably unleashed that bee.” But she was quick to add that Pascal is “so wonderful” as she spoke about the camaraderie she shared with the cast members.
Previously, speaking during a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival for Eddington, Stone discussed how her personal approach evolved while preparing for the role in Eddington. “The only additional thing that scared me a little bit in the algorithm system was looking into some of the things that are in this film that haven’t been in my algorithm; unfortunately, I added them to my algorithm,” she said. “Because once you start Googling it, you start seeing more and more things. So it’s a real rabbit hole, very quickly. Unfortunately, I’m still getting fed some crazy shit.”
Helmed by Ari Aster, Eddington promises to deliver a thought-provoking and intense cinematic experience, exploring the tensions and conflicts that arose during the pandemic.
Also a part of the cast are Luke Grimes, Deirdre O'Connell, Micheal Ward, Amélie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Belleau, with Austin Butler and Emma Stone. This is Aster's fourth feature following Hereditary, Midsommar, and Beau Is Afraid.
Darius Khondji, two-time Oscar nominee, will crank the camera for Eddington. Aster and Lars Knudsen are also bankrolling the film under their Square Peg banner. Eddington is set to be released in theatres on July 18.
