After Beau is Afraid, Ari Aster and Joaquin Phoenix reunite for A24's Eddington, for which a trailer was released recently. Aster is known for directing films like Hereditary and Midsommar.

The film is set at the onset of the pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus, as the mayor and sheriff of Eddington, New Mexico, are on opposite sides of a powder keg which is set off in the town with a small population. As a result, neighbour is pitted against neighbour.

With Pheonix playing the sheriff, Eddington's cast includes Pedro Pascal as the mayor, Luke Grimes, Dierdre O'Connell, Michael Ward, Amelie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr, and William Belleau, with Austin Butler and Emma Stone.

Aster has written Eddington and serves as a producer for the film with Lars Knudsen under their Square Peg Banner. Eddington is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and will release theatrically on July 18.
