Adria Arjona's request for a divorce catapults a spiral of chaos with Kyle Marvin sleeping with his friend, Dakota Johnson, only to anger her husband, Michael Angelo Covino. This is the story of Splitsville, the trailer for which was unveiled on Monday.
The trailer shows Ashley (Arjona) asking Carey (Marvin) for a divorce, but the latter is not on board. Unsure of how to deal with the situation, Carey runs to his friends, husband and wife Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino), who tell him that the secret behind their long-lasting marriage is an open relationship. Carey and Julie then sleep together, but Paul is in a rage on finding out. What follows is a situational comedy featuring these characters and the consequences of their actions.
Helmed by Michael Angelo Covino and written by Kyle Marvin, Splitsville also stars Nicholas Braun, David CastaƱeda, Charlie Gillespie, Simon Webster, Stephen Adekolu, Tyrone Benskin, and O-T Fagbenle. Covino and Marvin previously collaborated on the acclaimed 2019 feature The Climb.
Splitsville is produced by Covino, Johnson, Marvin, Ro Donnelly, Ryan Heller, Emily Korteweg, Jeff Deutchman, and Samantha Racanelli. Executive producers include Paul Barbeau and Adam Paulsen, with Claude Amadeo and Randal Sandler serving as co-executive producers.
The film is all set to open in limited theatres on August 22, followed by a worldwide release on September 5.
