Neon has scheduled Splitsville, a new comedy-drama starring Dakota Johnson, Adria Arjona, Kyle Marvin, and Michael Angelo Covino, for an August 22 theatrical release. The film is set to make its premiere this month at the Cannes Film Festival in the Premiere section.

Directed by Covino, who also stars, the film follows Carey (Marvin), whose world is upended when his wife Ashley (Arjona) asks for a divorce. He seeks refuge with his best friends Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino), whose seemingly ideal open marriage offers a hopeful model — until Carey blurs boundaries and disrupts all their relationships.

The ensemble cast also includes Nicholas Braun, David Castañeda, Charlie Gillespie, Simon Webster, Stephen Adekolu, Tyrone Benskin, and O-T Fagbenle. Marvin and Covino co-wrote the screenplay, marking a continued collaboration after their acclaimed 2019 feature The Climb.

Splitsville is produced by Covino, Johnson, Marvin, Ro Donnelly, Ryan Heller, Emily Korteweg, Jeff Deutchman, and Samantha Racanelli. Executive producers include Paul Barbeau and Adam Paulsen, with Claude Amadeo and Randal Sandler serving as co-executive producers.
