Actors Vin Diesel and Michael Caine have strengthened their enduring friendship as Caine attended Diesel's recent birthday celebration in London. Diesel, who turned 58 on July 18, shared a picture on Instagram featuring himself, his daughter Hania, and Caine. A photograph of Diesel graciously pushing Caine's wheelchair at a London restaurant has also been doing the rounds online. Diesel and Caine have been friends for a long time now. Reportedly, their friendship started at a birthday party, where Caine announced Diesel as "my son".
The two actors notably shared the screen in the 2015 action-fantasy film The Last Witch Hunter, where Caine plays the role of Dolan 36th, who accompanies Diesel's witch hunter, named Kaulder, and assists him in his missions. Both actors have publicly expressed high regard for each other's work. Caine, a two-time Academy Award winner, has often praised Diesel's dedication and ability to command a screen, particularly in the action genre. On the other hand, Diesel has spoken highly of Caine's legendary career and profound influence on acting. He often cited Caine as a mentor and an inspiration.
Diesel is best known for his work in the Fast and Furious franchise, the XXX series of films, and Stephen Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan. The actor is in production for Riddick: Furya, the fourth instalment in the Riddick franchise. He also has Fast and Furious 11 in the pipeline. Further, his recent Instagram post has fuelled speculation about a sequel to The Last Witch Hunter.
On the other hand, Caine has retired from acting. His final film The Great Escaper stars Caine as Bernard Jordan, a based-on-real-life World War II veteran who gets out of his nursing home in order to attend D-Day commemorations. The Great Escaper also stars the late Glenda Jackson.
