Fans of Spider-Man animated franchise will have to wait a little more longer than expected for the release of the third and final film Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Sony's upcoming film will now release on June 25, 2027, three weeks later than its earlier scheduled date of June 4. The dates have been reportedly altered to bring in school-going kids.

The upcoming film will conclude the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse trilogy, which began with the Oscar-winning animated film in 2018 and continued with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in 2023.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 is now Spider-Man: Brand New Day

The directors of the upcoming film are Bob Persichetti and Justin K Thompson. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, creators of the trilogy, have once again scripted the film.

In the original Spider-Verse film, Brooklyn teen Miles Morales discovers that "anyone can wear the mask" as he becomes the new Spider-Man, teaming up with Spider-People from parallel universes to save New York City. The sequel follows Miles and Spider-Woman Gwen Stacy as they traverse the multiverse, only to confront a new, formidable threat.

At CinemaCon in March, Lord told the audience that the third part would begin with protagonist Miles Morales as a fugitive on the run from every other spider in the multiverse, and hinted that “Gwen and his other friends may or may not be enough to help him save the family that’s been the leading part of the entire system.”

Lord and Miller are backing the film along with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh. Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg serve as executive producers while Jessica Berri is the co-producer.

Apart from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, a fourth instalment in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man franchise is also in the works. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, also has Zendaya reprising her role along with franchise newcomers Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink, The Bear‘s Liza Colón-Zayas and Daredevil: Born Again's Jon Bernthal. The film is set for release on July 31, 2026.
