James Cameron's fantasy spectacle maintains consistent footfall in India but has failed to overtake the domestic hit, Dhurandhar. Released last week, Avatar: Fire and Ash has been posting steady box office numbers in India. While it was expected to slow down Dhurandhar's momentum, the film has so far failed to achieve the same numbers as the Ranveer Singh starrer. Weekend trends showed promise, but weekday collections dipped. Five days into its theatrical run, the film has crossed the Rs 80 crore mark in India.

Avatar: Fire and Ash registered a marginal rise on Day 5, earning Rs 9.25 crore on Tuesday, according to Sacnilk estimates, taking its total gross to Rs 85.50 crore. So far on Day 6, it has earned around 4.9 crore. Despite the uptick, the James Cameron directorial continues to trail behind Dhurandhar, which remains firmly ahead at the domestic box office. The film is set to encounter fresh competition with Karthik Aryan's Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri arriving in theatres this weekend. While Fire and Ash has showcased decent earnings in India, it has been dominating the global box office.

Dhurandhar becomes highest-grossing film of 2025

Avatar: Fire and Ash introduces the Ash people, a fire-dwelling Na'vi clan, as Jake Sully and Neytiri face fresh internal conflicts and renewed human threats. The film explores darker themes of power, belief, and survival on Pandora. The film has Sam Worthington, Zoe SaldaƱa, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet reprising their role from the previous Avatar films.

An excerpt from CE's review of Avatar: Fire and Ash reads, "When James Cameron takes the time to show us the children exploring the ocean, playing with their aquatic friends, it reminds us why the alien planet struck a chord with us, leaving us yearning for a place that never was, and a curious case of unlived nostalgia sets in."
