In a hilarious revelation, Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu recently recalled his first meeting with Robert Downey Jr on the sets of Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking on The Tonight Show, Liu said, "I wasn’t trying to look pretty" as he talked about his meeting with Downey Jr. Liu wore a grey-coloured T-shirt and shorts while on the sets of Avengers: Doomsday, whereas the rest of the actors were clad in seemingly better-looking casual clothes. A photograph featuring some of the actors starring in the next Avengers film surfaced online in the recent past, and it also included Liu's aforesaid appearance.
The actor revealed that he received a text message amid his schedule for Doomsday that said Downey Jr, who is playing Dr Doom in the film, wanted to meet him. However, he ended up being dressed in the shorts and the T-shirt. Liu recounted the moment when he felt embarrassed about meeting the Dr Doom star in this way. Liu stated, "Downey Jr said to me, 'Oh, look at you! Well, that's a choice.' And I was like, 'God!!'"
Liu rose to fame with a role in Kim's Convenience before earning international recognition with a role as Marvel's first Asian-led superhero in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He later appeared in films like Barbie and Atlas and is reportedly set to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in upcoming Marvel projects.
