HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt is gearing up for its second season with a strengthened ensemble. The series has welcomed four new recurring guest stars: Brittany Allen (The Boys, Dexter: Original Sin), Bonita Friedericy (A Friend of the Family, Chicago Med), Taylor Handley (Mayor of Kingstown, Griselda), and Jeff Kober (The Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy).
Led by Noah Wyle, who also serves as an executive producer, the show makes its Season 2 return in January. The new chapter jumps forward 10 months from the events of last season’s finale and unfolds over a tense Fourth of July weekend.
Created by R Scott Gemmill and produced by John Wells, The Pitt dives into the relentless, minute-by-minute chaos of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency department. With its real-time structure, the drama examines the overwhelming caseloads, emotional stressors, and resource shortages faced by frontline medical teams, while exploring the parallel personal stakes of the physicians and nurses at its centre.
The newly announced roles add fresh layers to the fast-paced hospital setting. Brittany Allen steps in as Roxie Hamler, a patient arriving at the Emergency Department. Bonita Friedericy plays Cora Wilkins, who comes to the ED to visit another patient. Taylor Handley appears as Paul Hamler, husband to one of the ED’s incoming cases. Jeff Kober portrays Duke, a motorcycle engineer with longstanding ties to one of the doctors.
Alongside Wyle, the series features returning cast members Katherine LaNasa, Shawn Hatosy, Taylor Dearden, Patrick Ball, Isa Briones, Fiona Dourif, Supriya Ganesh, Shabana Azeez, and Gerran Howell. Season 2 is also bringing in Sepideh Moafi as a new series regular, while Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, Lucas Iverson, and Lawrence Robinson join the ensemble in recurring roles.
The Pitt continues to be produced by John Wells Productions in partnership with Warner Bros. Television. Gemmill remains at the helm as creator and executive producer, joined by Wells, Wyle, Erin Jontow, Simran Baidwan, Joe Sachs, and Michael Hissrich.
