Mindy Kaling’s new Hulu comedy series Not Suitable for Work has locked in its five main stars. Ella Hunt, Avantika, Will Angus, Jack Martin, and Nicholas Duvernay will headline the series, which was ordered at Hulu earlier this year.
The workplace comedy follows “five work-obsessed twenty-somethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan’s most glamorous neighbourhood, Murray Hill.”
Hunt takes on the role of AJ Pascarelli, described as “a charming but intense first-year analyst at the most prestigious investment bank in New York.” Avantika will be seen as Abhinaya “Abby” Chilukuri, “a fashion-obsessed, savvy assistant to a demanding celebrity stylist.”
Meanwhile, Angus will play Davis Beau Bradley Barrett III, “a high-energy finance bro, but underneath his fratty exterior, Davis just wants to love and be loved.” Martin has been cast as Josh Teitelbaum, “a smart, idealistic, and occasionally sanctimonious New Yorker (born and raised, he’s the first to tell you).” Rounding out the ensemble, Duvernay will portray Kel Washington, “a charming, slightly anxious medical student struggling to ace his exams while plotting his big break as an actor."
The series is created by Kaling, who also serves as executive producer alongside showrunner Charlie Grandy. Howard Klein of 3 Arts Entertainment joins as an executive producer as well. Not Suitable for Work is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Ella Hunt, known for Anna and the Apocalypse, is currently filming for Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 3. Last seen in Mean Girls and Tarot, Avantika Vandanapu has Ballerina Overdrive coming up next. Meanwhile, Will Angus is known for Last Night Was a Movie, Almost Friday TV and Artificial. Jack Martin's claim to fame is his starring role as Josh Harris in NBC's hit show La Brea. Lastly, Nicholas Duvernay, who was recently seen in The White Lotus, has Reminders of Him and The Love Hypothesis in the pipeline.
