Actor Corey Mylchreest, known for his role as King George III in Netflix's Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, has scored another big win with another recent romantic film My Oxford Year for the streamer. However, he was also signed up to work on a live-action Tangled film that would have made him enter the hatrick category with both a king and a Prince role in his kitty.
In a recent interview with Seventeen Magazine for My Oxford Year's promotions, the actor revealed that he once auditioned for Disney's live-action Tangled film for the role of Flynn Rider, the handsome friend and romantic interest of Rapunzel. The actor was required to sing, but that did not work in his favour.
"I think I can say this now because I don’t think it’s happening anymore, but I auditioned for Tangled," Mylchreest said to the surprise of his co-star Sofia Carson. "See? I’ve been saying for a year that he sings. And he says that he doesn't."
The Bridgerton actor replied to it saying, "We don’t have the footage anymore. I deleted it and then I burnt it and then I burnt the phone that I filmed on. And then I burnt the room that I did it in. And then I burnt myself." He also added that it wasn't very good. "They then told me that they wanted someone with singing experience," he added.
Disney's live-action Tangled film reportedly got scrapped after Snow White's poor performance at the box office. The remake was in the works with Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) helming the film. The project was in pre-production stages when it was left in the cans.
Meanwhile, My Oxford Year, which was inspired by the novel of the same name by Julia Whelan, also starred Poppy Gilbert, Dougray Scott, Harry Trevaldwyn, Catherine McCormack, Barney Harris and Hugh Coles, among others.
