Michael Bay is no longer associated with Will Smith's upcoming Netflix project Fast and Loose. The acclaimed Transformers director has reportedly exited the project due to creative differences with the actor.
In Fast and Loose, Smith will be seen playing man who wakes up in Tijuana, Mexico, with memory loss. As he discovers his past, he learns he's been living two lives, one as a crime kingpin and the other as a secret CIA agent.
The screenplay for Fast and Loose has been written by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner and Eric Pearson. Before Michael Bay, David Leitch was attached to direct the film, but he exited the project to begin working on The Fall Guy.
Netflix is eyeing for the project to go on floors in October and are looking for a director to helm the film before that.
Leitch and Kelly McCormick are producing Fast and Loose for 87North, along with Smith. Executive producers are Robert Simonds and Noah Fogelson for STXfilms.
Bay and Smith have previously collaborated on the 1995 action-comedy Bad Boys and its 2003 sequel. Released in June, the latest sequel in the franchise, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, saw Smith and Lawrence reprise their characters from the original film.
Michael Bay's latest directorial effort was the 2022 Universal film Ambulance, featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Widely recognized for his work on the Transformers series, Bay also directed the 2019 Netflix action film 6 Underground, starring Ryan Reynolds. Among his upcoming projects is a film adaptation of the OutRun video game franchise, with Sydney Sweeney attached to star.
