Super Deluxe trailer breakdown

Co-written by director Thiagarajan Kumararaja, along with Mysskin, Nalan Kumarasamy and Neelan K Sekar, the film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja

The official trailer of Thiagarajan Kumararaja's second film, Super Deluxe, has dropped.

The trailer, which runs for a little over 2 minutes, shows random visuals, which happen over a day, featuring the lead characters, played by Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha, Fahadh Faasil, Ramya Krishnan, Mysskin, Gayathrie, and Bhagavathi Perumal, even as a tipsy voice-over by Vijay Sethupathi runs in the background. The actor, in his signature voice, narrates a story of a man, who revels in the taste of a honey drop that has trickled down from the comb, even as he is caught between the clutches of a tiger and a fatal fall down a ravine. The groovy narration slowly speeds up, gets repeated for effect, and takes us on a psychedelic trip, before ending on an unexpected high.

The visuals show Tamil cinema’s most exciting actor at the moment, Vijay Sethupathi, playing the character of Shilpa, a trans woman. Fahadh Faasil and Samantha Akkineni seem to be a couple, who are caught in an intense situation. There are a few teenagers, who seem to have an unlikely encounter with a gangster. Mysskin looks to be a preacher, who gets his faith questioned. Ramya Krishnan, whose character is not revealed, and a couple of mysterious kids raise the stakes further.

Super Deluxe, co-written by the director himself, along with Mysskin, Nalan Kumarasamy, and Neelan K Sekar, has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film, which marks the return of Thiagarajan Kumararaja after a gap of eight years, is scheduled for release on March 29.
