Hanu Man Trailer: A homegrown superhero rises to vanquish evil

The official trailer of Hanu Man helmed by Prashanth Varma was unveiled on Tuesday in an event held at AMB Cinemas, Hyderabad. The film stars former child actor Teja Sajja in the lead role, along with Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Vinay Rai, Getup Srinu, Satya, Raj Deepak Shetty, Vennela Kishore and Samuthirakani, amongst others. While Varalaxmi plays the role of Teja's older sister, Vinay is the film's principal antagonist.

The 208-second trailer combines glimpses of the story with Hindutva-friendly rhetoric, including impassioned chants of Jai Shri Ram and an intro that says "Inspired from the itihas of Akhand Bharat". We also get a chant Yatho Dharma Tato Hanuman...Yatho Hanuman Tato Jaya... (Where there is righteousness, there is Hanuman, and where there is Hanuman there is victory." We are introduced to a protagonist with superpowers that gift him with the strength to outrun a cheetah and beat up multiple people with a flourish. He and the townsfolk hail from Anjanadri, a fictitious village. Anjanadri and Hanu Man are IPs that form a part of the larger Prashanth Varma Cinematic Universe.

In a past interview with Cinema Express, Prashanth Varma mentioned that Anjanadri was inspired by Gotham from the DC Universe. Much like Gotham, which derives its likeliness from Manhattan, Anjanadri is designed on the lines of Yanam, a union territory near Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. Vinay Rai plays a supervillain who wreaks havoc on Anjanadri in his pursuit of a divine superpower that will make him all-powerful. The clash between good and bad, as represented by Teja's and Vinay's characters respectively, forms the crux of Hanu Man. Samuthirakani is seen in the role of a Sadhu. The glimpses of Amritha Aiyer, are conspicuously missing from the trailer.

Hanu Man is scheduled to be released on January 12. The trailer ends with title cards in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese and Japanese.

K Niranjan Reddy is producing the film under the Primeshow Entertainment bammer. The film is written by Scriptsville, a writer's room developed by Prashanth Varma. The film's core collaborators include Dasaradhi Shivendra (cinematography), Saibabu Talari (editing) and Srinagendra Tangala (production design). Hari Gowra, Anudeep Dev and Krishna Saurabh have jointly composed Hanu Man's music.
