After a long time, Allari Naresh is back to his strong zone — comedy — with Ramba Oorvasi Menaka. Directed by Chandra Mohan Chinthada, Razesh Danda and Nimmakayala Prasad are jointly producing the film under the Hasya Movies and Annapurna Studios banners. The film is hitting the screens on September 4.

When asked about making a film in the mythological-fantasy-comedy genre, he said there is a big difference between earlier films and this one. “If you look at the films that were made around Lord Yama or Indra, people from Bhoolokam travel there. But in Ramba Oorvasi Menaka, they come to Earth,” says Allari Naresh, adding that he plays someone who runs a drama company, and yet, wants to become a Rajamouli hero without trying to put the required efforts. "I devote a lot of time to Ramba Oorvasi Menaka, and I have a puzzle book that comes from my forefathers. If I unlock the book using a particular pattern, Ramba, Oorvasi and Menaka come to Earth, and then my problems begin. From there, the story turns hilarious, with one incident after another. What happens in the end is the story,” says the actor.

Naresh adds that the film is not a series of scene-by-scene skits like a reality show on television. “There is a story, a villain and emotions. Everything is there, but entertainment plays a major part,” says the actor, who believes it will be a respite from the slew of dark films and action dramas that have hit the screens. “If you look at the audience’s taste, they are now coming to theatres to watch entertainment-based and content-based films. So, this film will definitely be refreshing for people who want some entertainment,” says Allari Naresh.

The actor asserts that the film will have clean comedy. “After a long time, I am back to my home ground. I am back to my strong point, comedy, and I am trying to hit a six. I hope this film will entertain everyone,” says the actor, who has put his direction plans on hold. “I said earlier that I wanted to direct, but now my main focus is on acting. I want to make some successful films as an actor,” said Naresh.

Naresh earlier tried different genres with Bachchala Malli and 12A Railway Colony, but couldn’t taste success. “When a director narrates the story, it looks great, but when it comes to the shoot, there are a lot of changes and the film may not come out as expected. As an actor, I never failed, but I take responsibility for all my films, whether they are successful or not,” says Naresh, signing off by announcing his approach to future projects. “I have decided that from now on, I will go to the shoot only if there is a bound script."
