Tamil actor Suriya enjoys a strong fan base in Telugu states, especially after the success of his Singam franchise. Since then, most of his Tamil films have also been released in Telugu, making him a familiar face among the audience here. Now, Suriya has teamed up with RJ Balaji for a film titled Karuppu, which will be released in Telugu as Veerabhadrudu.

In recent times, several Tamil and Malayalam films have retained their original titles for their Telugu releases. However, this film has been given a new title, Veerabhadrudu, for its Telugu version. Trisha plays the female lead opposite Suriya in this action drama.

Interestingly, the Telugu version will be released by Annapurna Studios, owned by Akkineni Nagarjuna. In an official statement, the banner confirmed that it will distribute the film across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The film is produced by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner. Annapurna Studios acquiring the Telugu rights reflects the close association between the Akkineni family and the producers, as well as with Suriya and his brother Karthi.

For context, Nagarjuna and Karthi previously shared screen space in Oopiri, directed by Vamshi Paidipally.

Veerabhadrudu is set to hit theatres on May 14 with a wide release. With no major Telugu films arriving on the same date, the film is expected to enjoy a solo release across a significant number of screens.
