Actor Shree Nandu, who earlier starred in Psych Siddhartha — which also marked the directorial debut of Varun Reddy — is now gearing up for another psychological drama titled Ugly Story. The film is directed by Pranav Swaroop, with Avika Gor as the female lead. It has been announced that the film is scheduled to hit theatres on May 22.
Nandu has been aiming for a solid commercial breakthrough over the past few years, but success has remained elusive. Earlier this year, Psych Siddhartha released amid decent expectations, especially since Nandu also turned producer and had backing from banners like Suresh Productions. However, the film failed to perform at the box office.
Now, he returns with Ugly Story, which carries the tagline, “Every love has a dark side… and this one is brutally real.” Nandu will be seen in a different and intense role in this psychological thriller.
Directed by Pranav Swaroop, the film revolves around a man who becomes obsessively attached to a girl who is in love with someone else. The story explores his descent into a dark psychological state, as he struggles to deal with rejection, leading to dangerous consequences.
Avika Gor, who plays the female lead, is also hoping for a strong comeback with this film. Her previous outing, Shanmukha, failed to make an impact and was pulled out of theatres shortly after release. Now paired with Nandu in Ugly Story, she is looking forward to a better response. The makers plan to release the trailer on May 6, ahead of the film’s theatrical release on May 22.
Ravi Teja Mahadasyam plays a key role in the film. The teaser, which was released around ten days ago, has already generated some curiosity. The music is composed by Shravan Bharadwaj, while Ch Subhashini, Konda Lakshman, and Bekkem Venugopal are jointly producing the film.
