Re-releases have become a strong trend in Tollywood, though some small film producers feel they pose a challenge to new releases. Despite these concerns, several films continue to return to theatres. Recently, Prabhas’ Darling turned out to be a big success upon its re-release, collecting impressive numbers at the box office.
Now, two more popular films — Nani’s Ninnu Kori and Ravi Teja’s Krishna — are set to hit the screens again on May 8.
Interestingly, a few new films are also releasing on the same day, making the box office competition more intense.
Ninnu Kori, directed by Shiva Nirvana, marked his directorial debut. Sharing his thoughts on the re-release, the director expressed his emotional connection to the film.
“This is my debut film, and it remains very special — not just for me, but for many others as well. Many people have told me that Ninnu Kori is memorable for them, which makes me very happy. I should thank Nani for portraying Umamaheswara Rao so beautifully — he truly lived in that role. I’m also grateful to my mentor Kona Venkat for giving me this opportunity,” he said.
The other film, Krishna, stars Ravi Teja and Trisha in the lead roles and was directed by VV Vinayak. The film is remembered for its action elements as well as the hilarious comedy sequences featuring Brahmanandam.
Krishna was originally released on January 11, 2008, and was a major success at the time. Ninnu Kori, released on July 7, 2017, also went on to become a commercial hit.
Interestingly, both films are associated with DVV Danayya — he produced Ninnu Kori and presented Krishna.
