Sree Vishnu’s thriller Mrithyunjay released in theatres on March 6 and received positive reviews. Reba Monica John played a key role in the film, which was directed by Hussain Sha Kiran. Produced by Sandeep Gunnam and Vinay Chilakapati, the film is now set for its digital premiere on Netflix from April 3.
After doing a series of entertainment-oriented films, Sree Vishnu chose to take a different route with Mrithyunjay. Unlike regular commercial films filled with songs and comedy, this one is a serious investigative thriller, and the actor delivered a subtle and restrained performance.
In his earlier films, Sree Vishnu was known for energetic roles filled with punch dialogues and comic timing. However, in Mrithyunjay, he moves away from those familiar traits and opts for a more realistic approach.
The story revolves around Jay, played by Sree Vishnu, who works for a newspaper called Swecha. Although his dream is to become a crime reporter, he is assigned the task of handling advertisements and obituary notices, which bring revenue to the publication. Whenever someone dies, Jay visits the family of the deceased and persuades them to publish obituary advertisements in the newspaper.
During the course of his work, Jay notices something unusual about two deaths. Convinced that there is more to the incidents than what appears on the surface, he begins his own investigation in an effort to prove himself as a capable crime reporter.
At the same time, ACP Seetha Parasuram, played by Reba Monica John, dismisses the possibility of any conspiracy and declares the deaths accidental, possibly due to pressure from higher authorities.
Netflix officially confirmed the film’s streaming date through its social media platforms. From April 3 onwards, viewers will get a chance to watch this investigative thriller on OTT.
