Ram Charan-starrer Peddi is one of the most-awaited films of the year. Every promotional asset released so far — be it the glimpse, song, or first look — has gone viral and generated huge curiosity among the audience. Recently, the makers unveiled Ram Charan’s pehelwan look from the film, and it continues to trend on social media.
The actor’s striking transformation into a wrestler has drawn widespread appreciation, with many calling it one of the best physical makeovers in recent times. Speaking about the effort behind the look, director Buchi Babu Sana said, “He put in immense effort, training every day for almost eight months to achieve the physique we envisioned for a pehelwan.”
The director added that Ram Charan’s discipline went beyond workouts. “While observing Ayyappa deeksha, he completely stayed away from non-vegetarian food,” Buchi Babu said.
A key element of the transformation is the gada, the traditional heavy wooden club used by wrestlers during training. “Every pehelwan uses a mugdar for training. In Peddi, his character shares a strong connection with the gada, which he uses as part of his workouts,” the director explained.
“He trained extensively with it, and the fight sequences in the film also feature the gada, along with mud arenas and traditional wrestling setups,” he added.
Written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi stars Ram Charan in the lead role alongside Shiva Rajkumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Divyendu Sharma, and Jagapathi Babu. Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas in association with Mythri Movie Makers, the film is scheduled to release on April 30.
