Akhil Akkineni is pinning all his hopes on his upcoming film Lenin, directed by Murali Kishore Abburu. The film was originally slated for a May 1 release, but the makers have now pushed it to June 26.
The latest postponement is to avoid a clash with Ram Charan’s Peddi, which is scheduled to hit theatres on April 30. Akhil and Ram Charan share a very close bond and are known to be like brothers, and the Lenin team decided to step aside to give Peddi a bigger release window.
The makers of Lenin released an official note explaining the decision. According to them, the postponement was made in the best interests of both films. They wanted Peddi to get a wider theatrical release and also felt that it would benefit from a solo release. With that in mind, the makers shifted the film to June 26, hoping to create a healthier atmosphere in the industry and ensure that both films get their due space at the box office.
Industry insiders believe such gestures help maintain unity and goodwill among actors and filmmakers, especially when two major films are arriving around the same time.
Directed by Murali Kishore Abburu, Lenin stars Bhagyashree Borse as the female lead opposite Akhil Akkineni. Though the film is mounted as an action entertainer, the makers say it also has strong emotional content.
The team is confident that the film will offer audiences a satisfying theatrical experience. Music for the film is composed by S Thaman, while the film is being produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments along with Akhil’s father, Nagarjuna Akkineni.
