Nikhil Siddhartha's next as a lead is the period drama Swayambhu, which is directed by Bharat Krishnamachari. Nabha Natesh and Samyuktha are playing the female leads, and the film is set to hit the screens this summer. Recently, the teaser for the film was released.
The teaser for the film offered a glimpse into its grand scale its backdrop. While it offered a glimpse into the story, director Bharat Krishnamachari revealed that with the film he aims to bring alive India’s Golden Era.
“The goal for this film is to throw light on the golden era of India, where we went on to become a naval superpower and had extremely flourishing empires — not just in South India but across the whole of India. Our trade with the East — China — and the West — Rome and Greece — as well as Southeast Asia was thriving,” said the director.
He further explained that trade was flourishing and India was witnessing remarkable economic growth and technological advancement. “Just like how, after Independence, Indians started going to America, at that time everyone wanted to come to India. The reason was that we were the superpower then. This film talks about the beginning of that superpower era,” he said.
The teaser hinted that in the heart of the story lies the powerful symbolism of the Sengol. Nikhil appears in a fierce and commanding avatar, while the teaser is packed with breathtaking visuals, intense drama, and action.
The film’s music is composed by Ravi Basrur, known for KGF and Salaar. Cinematography is handled by KK Senthil Kumar of RRR fame, while editing is Tammiraju, who also worked on Baahubali. The filming for the upcoming period drama was completed in 170 days.
Swayambhu is produced by Bhuvan and Shreekar of Pixel Studios. The film is set for a worldwide release in Summer 2026.
