Actor Nani has nailed a challenging dance step in 'Aaya Sher,' the trending song from his upcoming film The Paradise. Called the 'hookstep,' it requires one to be quite agile in the lower body, as it involves shifting one's body weight to one leg, leaning forward and moving in a sliding motion. Nani does it all in the song, and that too, in sync with many background dancers and while casually smoking a cigarette.

Ever since the release of the song, the dance move has been going viral. Many on social media, including actors and influencers, have tried to recreate the step—some successfully and others not-so-successfully. Take Malayalam actor Ameya Mathew, for instance. The actor shared a video where she can be seen trying to pull off the hookstep, with the actual clip of Nani shown parallelly at the top. However, Ameya could not pull it off as she lost balance as soon as she started doing it, only to break into laughter. "After one year in healthcare, my spine and legs are not moving as well as before," she wrote.

Netizens made fun of Ameya's 'expectation versus reality' type, lighthearted video, and the actor too joined the conversation, putting herself down like a good sport.

Elsewhere, VJ and actor Arun Karthi nailed the step as he shared it in a YouTube short. Arun's rendition of the Nani hookstep from 'Aaya Sher' is widely regarded as one of the best, perfectly capturing the energetic and 'mass' vibes of the song.

There has also been some controversy related to the highly choreographed step. Baba Jackson, Romania's Got Talent contestant, called it a 'rip-off' of his own moves and shared a video on social media as a way of proving his claim.
