Actor Manchu Manoj is currently working on David Reddy, a period drama set in the pre-Independence era. Directed by debutant Hanuma Reddy Yakkanti, the film is an action-packed story in which Manoj is putting in real effort, particularly for the action sequences.
Recently, Manoj has shared an update about his ongoing physical transformation, revealing that he has spent the last three weeks pushing himself beyond his comfort zone in preparation for his upcoming projects.
In the post, Manoj spoke candidly about his decision to stop making excuses and focus entirely on the work. “Three weeks ago, I made a decision. No more negotiating with comfort. No more excuses. Just the work,” he wrote, explaining how demanding action filmmaking can be.
He added that performing stunts on camera leaves no room for shortcuts. “In action cinema, nobody can fake it for you. Every punch, every fall, every hit — your body either shows up or it doesn’t. The camera doesn’t lie,” he said.
Manoj also revealed that he has stopped training just for appearance and is now focusing on building endurance and resilience, with the goal of becoming “unbreakable.” Calling the update 'Week 3,' he said the journey has only just begun but that he already feels like a different man compared to who he was 21 days ago.
Manoj recently returned to the spotlight with the film Mirai, where he played the powerful antagonist Mahabir Lama, also known as ‘Black Sword.’ The film performed well at the box office, and Manoj’s intense performance received appreciation from both audiences and critics.
Looking ahead, Manoj is gearing up for one of the most ambitious films of his career, David Reddy, a large-scale pan-India period action drama directed by Hanuma Reddy Yakkanti and produced by Nallagangula Venkat Reddy and Bharat Motukuri. Set during the British colonial period between 1897 and 1920, the film follows a fierce warrior who rises against oppression.
The film also features international actress Maria Ryaboshapka, and the project is being mounted on a grand scale for audiences across India.
