The Pawan Kalyan-starrer Ustaad Bhagat Singh is all set to hit the screens on March 19 on the occasion of the Telugu New Year, Ugadi. Harish Shankar has directed this action entertainer, while Sreeleela and Raashi Khanna play the female leads.
The makers announced on Tuesday that the film has completed its censorship formalities and received a U/A certificate without any cuts. The runtime of the film has also been locked at two hours and 34 minutes.
Pawan Kalyan plays a cop named Bhagat in the film, as hinted in the recently released promo. Initially, the makers had planned to release the film on March 26, but they later preponed it to March 19 after Yash’s Toxic was postponed to June.
However, Ustaad Bhagat Singh will now face competition from Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, which is also scheduled for release on March 19. Interestingly, advance bookings for Dhurandhar 2 have already opened, and the premieres scheduled for March 18 are reportedly filling up fast.
The first part of Dhurandhar was a huge hit, and audiences have been eagerly waiting for the sequel. The Hindi version and the dubbed Telugu version are expected to give tough competition to Pawan Kalyan’s film.
Initially, Devi Sri Prasad was brought on board as the music director for Ustaad Bhagat Singh. However, the makers later decided to retain him only for the songs and roped in S Thaman for the background score. Since then, the team seems more confident about the film’s output, and the recent trailer promo has generated some buzz.
Director Harish Shankar and the team are now focusing on the trailer, which is expected to be unveiled soon. The two songs released so far have not created much impact, and the makers are hoping the trailer will boost the film’s promotions.
Meanwhile, there are also discussions about a possible ticket price hike. In Andhra Pradesh, there may not be any hurdles as Pawan Kalyan currently serves as the Deputy Chief Minister. However, in Telangana, permissions for ticket price hikes have often faced legal challenges. Recently, the court also came down heavily on the government order related to ticket price hikes.
It remains to be seen how the filmmakers will address this issue in Telangana ahead of the film’s release. Mythri Movie Makers is producing it.
