Ram Charan-starrer Peddi, which was released on June 4, is still running in theatres. The film received mixed reviews, and its box-office result has also been mixed. While the movie is performing well in parts of the Telugu states, especially in the Andhra region, it is yet to reach breakeven in Telangana. The biggest disappointment for the makers has been the film’s performance in North India and overseas markets.
“Overseas collections were not as expected, but I feel it is a case study,” said producer Venkata Satish Kilaru at the Peddi success meet when asked about the film’s box-office performance. He added that he could not understand why the film failed to perform well overseas despite being a good film.
Talking about the Hindi market, the producer admitted that the response there was also disappointing. “Sometimes some films perform better in certain markets. My film is a good film and it still has a long way to go. However, it did not perform as we expected, and I hope it will do better in the coming days,” he said.
Meanwhile, director Buchi Babu Sana confirmed that the makers are adding a few new scenes to the film. “We are adding a few scenes involving Rao Ramesh and Janhvi Kapoor, along with a couple of scenes featuring Jagapathi Babu. These scenes will be available from Wednesday onwards. We have completed the editing work for these portions and are now adding them to the film,” said the director.
He further added that audiences will get a better understanding of Janhvi Kapoor’s character after watching the added scenes. “After watching these scenes, you will definitely appreciate her role and performance, which did not get highlighted when the film was initially released. Now, we are adding those scenes,” he said.
When asked about the film’s Nizam collections and whether it achieved breakeven after 10 days, Sasi, a representative of Mythri Movie Distributors, did not give a direct answer. Instead, he spoke about the film’s story and how it inspired audiences.
“There is still a lot of time, and we are confident that the film will perform better in the coming days,” said Sasi.
