Actor Nivetha Pethuraj has revealed that she once considered walking away from cinema entirely, sharing that her appearance in Sing Geetham came at a point when she had already begun imagining life outside the industry.
Speaking at the success meet event organised by the makers, Nivetha reflected on a period of uncertainty in 2023 and said she had made up her mind to stop acting. “I decided to quit films in 2023,” she said, adding that she later realised life can sometimes push people towards decisions and paths they do not expect.
The actor credited producer Nag Ashwin for bringing her back to the screen. “Thanks to Nag Ashwin for bringing me back to life. If he hadn’t given me this opportunity, I wouldn’t be here today,” she said, adding with a laugh that she may otherwise have been “meditating somewhere in the Himalayas” and pursuing a completely different life.
Nivetha also spoke about her experience of watching the film and said she was unexpectedly emotional after seeing it. According to her, the film presents an issue relevant to today’s world in a moving manner while also carrying a takeaway for audiences.
Praising the team behind the film, she called herself fortunate to be associated with a musical and said she still finds it difficult to believe she became part of a project directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. She also appreciated composer Devi Sri Prasad’s contribution and thanked the makers for placing their trust in her.
Directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and produced by Nag Ashwin under Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema, Sing Geetham was released on June 12 and has been receiving a positive critical response.
After staying away from films following Daas Ka Dhamki, Nivetha now appears set for a busier phase professionally. She is reportedly attached to Bobby Kolli’s upcoming film starring Chiranjeevi and is also said to be part of the Venkatesh–Trivikram project, Aadarsha Kutumbam House no: 47 - AK 47.
