Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan scored a massive success with They Call Him OG, which was released on September 25 last year. Interestingly, the film hit the screens after he assumed office as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Directed by Sujeeth, OG presented Pawan Kalyan in a stylish avatar that resonated strongly with his fans.
The filmmaker had also dropped several hints in the film, suggesting the possibility of a sequel or even a prequel. More recently, music director Thaman spoke about OG 2, further fuelling speculation. However, despite the growing buzz, there had been no official confirmation regarding the project.
Putting an end to the speculation, Pawan Kalyan Creative Works, the production house owned by the actor, shared an update on social media.
“As promised, he will. The timing, he will let us know. Once Sujeeth returns from abroad, we will discuss OG2,” the post read.
The update makes it clear that OG 2 is very much on the cards and that Pawan Kalyan is keen on taking the franchise forward. Naturally, the announcement has thrilled fans, who are eager to see the star reprise one of his most celebrated recent roles.
For the record, OG emerged as a major box-office success, grossing nearly Rs 300 crore during its theatrical run. Thaman's music and background score were widely regarded as among the film's biggest strengths and played a significant role in its success.
Priyanka Mohan played the female lead, while Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi made his Telugu debut as the antagonist.
