Music director S Thaman was scheduled to perform a live concert in Hyderabad on Sunday, but the event was postponed due to rain. It will now be held on June 13. Speaking about the concert, Thaman said the music of They Call Him OG has become hugely popular and is being played on various occasions, including cricket celebrations.
“Anirudh’s Hukum Tour was a massive success. Inspired by that, I started the OG Tour, and I am confident it will also be a huge success,” said Thaman. He revealed that the tour will travel across South India, beginning in Hyderabad on June 13, followed by Bengaluru on July 11, Chennai on August 15, and concluding in Visakhapatnam on September 25.
The music director said he is carefully curating a special setlist for the concerts. “I have composed several blockbuster songs for Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada stars, and I will be performing many of them during the tour. A major portion of the revenue generated through these concerts will be donated to charity,” he said.
When asked whether he had any plans to follow music director Devi Sri Prasad into acting after the latter took up the lead role in Yellamma, Thaman dismissed the idea. “I finished my acting long ago and I have no interest in it now. Acting is not my cup of tea. In fact, I find it stressful. I would rather sit in an air-conditioned room and create good tunes for my films. I have no plans to move towards acting,” said Thaman.
He also praised Devi Sri Prasad and expressed confidence in Yellamma. “I know the story of Yellamma. Dil Raju garu narrated it to me when we were travelling together in the United States. It is a blockbuster story and I am confident it will become a huge success for Devi Anna,” he said. Thaman added that he even expressed interest in being associated with the project.
“I told Dil Raju garu that I would love to be part of the film and compose a couple of songs for it,” he said.
On the professional front, Thaman is currently busy with several high-profile projects, including Akhil Akkineni’s Lenin, the Trivikram-Venkatesh film Adarsha Kutumbam, Balakrishna and Gopichand Malineni’s NBK111, Mega158, and Itlu Arjuna.
“All these films have blockbuster potential and I am confident the music will strike a chord with audiences. Akhil is my cricket friend, and the music for Lenin has come out very well. I believe he will score a success with the film,” said Thaman. He also revealed that the glimpse of NBK111 will be released on June 10 to coincide with Balakrishna’s birthday.
“I am not exaggerating, but the glimpse has come out really well,” he said. Thaman further assured that the music for the small-budget film Itlu Arjuna will also be a chartbuster.
Speaking about his recent physical transformation, the composer credited his weight loss to a disciplined diet and regular cricket. “I decided to eat just one meal a day and play as much cricket as possible. That’s the routine I have been following, and it has helped me lose weight,” he said.
