The makers of the big-budget film Peddi received a major boost as the Telangana government granted permission for a ticket price hike. The government issued the GO on Tuesday night, clearing the final hurdle for the film's release and paving the way for bookings to open across the Nizam region. Starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles, the sports drama is directed by Buchi Babu Sana.

Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under the Vriddhi Cinemas banner, Peddi is all set to hit theatres on June 4. Ahead of its release, the makers have planned premiere shows on Wednesday night across several locations, including the Nizam area. As is customary for big-ticket releases, the team had been awaiting the Telangana government's approval for a ticket price revision for the premiere screenings.

With the GO now in place, the makers have been permitted to charge up to Rs 600, inclusive of GST, for premiere show tickets. The government has also approved an additional show from June 4 onwards and allowed a ticket price increase of Rs 125 in multiplexes and Rs 100 in single-screen theatres, inclusive of GST. The revised pricing and additional show permissions will remain in effect for ten days.

Mounted on a massive budget of around Rs 350 crore, Peddi is one of the most-awaited films of the year. Ram Charan has undergone a remarkable transformation for the role, portraying a sportsperson who is seen as a wrestler, cricketer, and cross-athlete at different stages in the film. Jagapathi Babu, Shiva Rajkumar, and Divyendu Sharma play other key roles.

The team has promoted the film extensively across the country. Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, and other members of the cast and crew toured cities including Mumbai, Bhopal, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Vijayawada as part of an aggressive promotional campaign.

Interestingly, the Andhra Pradesh government had approved a similar ticket price hike a week ago. The state also permitted a premiere ticket price of Rs 600, inclusive of GST. With both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana fixing the same rate, the makers have received a significant boost ahead of the film's grand release.
