Generally, most films witness a drop in collections after the weekend, but Akhil Akkineni-starrer Lenin is holding steady and continuing its strong run. On Day 5, the film collected a net of Rs 3 crore across 2,147 shows in India. With this, its five-day India net collection stands at Rs 32.05 crore, while the India gross has reached Rs 36.79 crore.
In the overseas market, Lenin collected Rs 50 lakh on Tuesday, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 8.30 crore. The film's worldwide gross after five days now stands at Rs 45.09 crore.
Compared to Monday, the film's collections dropped by 16.7 per cent on Tuesday, but the hold is still impressive. While many films witness a sharp decline on weekdays, Lenin is managing to maintain solid collections, indicating that its box-office run remains strong.
Bhagyashri Borse plays the female lead in the film, and Lenin has turned out to be her first major commercial breakthrough after making her Telugu debut with Mr Bachchan. Although she appeared in a few films earlier, she couldn't land a big success. With Lenin, she finally has one. Her performance as Bharathi has also received widespread appreciation, with many praising the authenticity she brought to the role.
On the other hand, Akhil made his debut in 2015 with Akhil, but despite starring in films such as Hello, Mr. Majnu, Most Eligible Bachelor, and Agent, he couldn't deliver a major commercial success. After taking a three-year break following Agent, he returned with Lenin, and the film has finally given him the long-awaited box-office breakthrough.
Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, Lenin is jointly produced by Akhil's father Nagarjuna and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi. The film also stars Sivaji, Brahmaji, Eswari Rao, Praveen, Satru, Mahesh Achanta and Getup Srinu. Kannada actor Pramod made his Telugu debut with Lenin, and his performance as Vasanth has emerged as one of the film's major highlights.
