Varun Tej's upcoming film Korean Kanakaraju is all set to hit the screens on August 7. The makers have kick-started the film's promotions in style, with none other than Prabhas unveiling the much-awaited teaser. Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, Korean Kanakaraju is touted to be an out-and-out horror comedy. Produced by UV Creations in association with First Frame Entertainment, the film is currently in the final stages of post-production.
The promotional campaign has already created a good buzz. The title glimpse generated curiosity among movie lovers, while the first single, Kamsahamnida, turned into a chartbuster. Now, the teaser has further raised expectations for the film.
The teaser begins with a voiceover from Kanakaraju, introducing his hometown of Penukonda in Rayalaseema. A carefree and mischievous youngster, Kanakaraju's life takes an unexpected turn when he falls in love with a Korean girl. However, things become even more bizarre when a mysterious vessel arrives from Korea, bringing with it supernatural forces. Possessed by a Korean spirit, Kanakaraju transforms into the eccentric Korean Kanakaraju, leading to a series of hilarious, spooky and action-packed moments.
After experimenting with different genres in his last few films, Varun Tej is now trying his hand at horror comedy with Korean Kanakaraju. He speaks in the Rayalaseema dialect throughout the film, which stands out in the teaser. The actor has also undergone a striking makeover, sporting a rugged, long-haired look that adds to the character's mass appeal. Ritika Naik, who plays the female lead, looks charming and appears to fit the role of the Korean girl perfectly.
Director Merlapaka Gandhi, known for his entertaining films, once again showcases his flair for comedy. The seamless blend of rural humour, supernatural elements, action and fantasy gives the teaser a refreshing feel while retaining strong commercial appeal.
