Rashmika Mandanna has given fans a fresh glimpse into Ranabaali, her upcoming period action drama with Vijay Deverakonda, by sharing a behind-the-scenes still from the film's sets. The actor's post quickly grabbed attention, not only for the image but also for her playful caption hinting that she may have revealed more than she was supposed to.
Sharing a still featuring Vijay Deverakonda in an intense moment from the film, Rashmika wrote that she wasn't sure whether she was "even allowed" to post the image. "I just hope they don't ask me to delete this post like they have a few times before," she wrote, before praising the team's efforts. Calling Ranabaali "something truly spectacular", the actor added that she was eagerly waiting to experience its world on the big screen. Vijaya Deverakonda then responded with his usual quirky response by calling his wife, "cutie".
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali reunites Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Set against the backdrop of British rule between 1854 and 1878, the pan-Indian period action drama is said to draw inspiration from real historical events in 19th-century Rayalaseema and follows the journey of a legendary warrior fighting colonial oppression.
Rashmika plays Jayamma, while Vijay essays the titular role of Ranabaali. The cast also includes The Mummy actor Arnold Vosloo, who plays the British officer Sir Theodore Hector. The film marks Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika's first together as husband and wife.
Backed by Mythri Movie Makers, with T-Series presenting the film, Ranabaali marks Vijay Deverakonda's second collaboration with Rahul Sankrityan after Taxiwaala. The film features music by composer duo Ajay-Atul, cinematography by Nirav Shah and editing by Karthika Srinivas R. It is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on September 11 in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam.
