Constable Kanakam is a well-known web series streaming on ETV Win, with Varsha Bollamma playing the titular role. Directed by Prashanth Kumar Dimmala and produced by Kovelamudi Satya Saibaba and Vemuri Prashanth, the series has built a strong following over two seasons. Now, the makers have announced that the third installment will be released as a theatrical film instead of a web series.
“We are releasing it in theatres,” confirmed director Prashanth. He added that the film is titled Constable Kanakam: Kalghat – Chapter 3. Rajeev Kanakala, Avasara Srinivas, and Meghalekha play other key roles in the film.
Though the locations featured in the film are familiar and well-known, the story itself is entirely fictional, the director clarified. The makers have already unveiled a glimpse, offering audiences a sneak peek into the new installment, and announced that the shoot will begin soon.
When asked about the increased budget compared to the web series, considering the demands of a theatrical experience, producer Sai Baba said the team is prepared for it. The web series was set in the 1990s and revolved around a mysterious village called Adavigutta, where several women mysteriously go missing.
In the series, Constable Kanakam, played by Varsha Bollamma, begins investigating the disappearances after her close friend Chandrika, portrayed by Meghalekha, also goes missing. What she uncovers during the investigation comes as a shocking revelation.
Now, with Kalghat – Chapter 3, the makers are taking the story forward on a bigger scale, marking Constable Kanakam’s transition from the digital space to a full-fledged theatrical release.
