Actor, TV host, and anchor Anasuya has publicly apologised to actress Raasi for making a double-entendre remark during a comedy show. Many were surprised when Anasuya posted an apology on Instagram, expressing regret for her actions. This apology comes in the wake of recent controversial comments made by actor Sivaji, who spoke about women’s outfits, specifically what female actresses should wear at public events. Sivaji used two inappropriate terms in his speech, which sparked backlash. Anasuya was among those who criticized the actor.

A few days ago, actress Raasi responded strongly to a double-meaning dialogue that mentioned her name in a comedy show. Raasi clarified that she was not commenting on Sivaji’s remarks, but she expressed her discomfort with the skit that aired three to four years ago, in which her name was used to body-shame her.

She continued, “These days, everyone posts whatever they want on social media, but I believe we should use these platforms to share positive things about ourselves and our friends.” Raasi’s comments did not name anyone directly, but it was clear that Anasuya was the anchor in question, and she made those double-meaning remarks.

“I don’t want to say that Sivaji was completely wrong, but he later acknowledged using inappropriate words and apologized. Putting Sivaji’s remarks aside, I remember an incident from three to four years ago when my name was used in a TV show. The female anchor—who you all know—immediately responded with a double-meaning remark. Even the female judge on the show laughed,” said Raasi.

After years of silence, Raasi took a subtle dig at Anasuya, prompting the latter to apologise publicly.

Anasuya’s apology read: "Dear Raasi Garu, I sincerely apologize to you. Three years ago, I didn’t know much about Telugu and used a double-meaning dialogue in a skit that involved you. I should have raised an objection to the writers and directors of the skit, but I didn’t have the power to do so at that time."

She continued, “It was a mistake, and I humbly ask for your forgiveness. I can’t undo the past, but I have grown from that experience. As a result of those double-meaning jokes, I left that TV show. This change comes from within me.”

Anasuya further expressed, “I don't know if the writers and director of that skit will ever apologize to you, but I want to offer my sincere apology."

"I can understand how painful it must be for you to have your name used in such a way, and I deeply regret that I was part of it. Today, I am much stronger when it comes to speaking out against those who make derogatory comments about women’s bodies. I hope you understand and lend your support. Wishing you well ma'am", said Anasuya.
