After the success of Court, the pair of Harsh Roshan and Sridevi will reunite in the upcoming film Band Melam. The film is produced by Kona Venkat, which is directed by debutant Sathish Juvvaji.
Speaking at the event, Kona Venkat recalled a defining moment from his career. “When Shiva Nirvana came to my office in 2017 and narrated a story, I instantly felt it would be memorable. That film turned out to be Ninnu Kori, which became a huge blockbuster,” he said.
Drawing a parallel, Kona added, “After many years, Sathish Juvvaji came to me with Band Melam, and I had the same strong instinct. Once I heard the story, I told him that if Harsh Roshan and Sridevi played the lead roles, I would produce the film. I am confident this film will also be a big success.”
Kona Venkat, who is widely known for his work as a writer, spoke about his selective approach to production. “I don’t produce films regularly. But when a story truly excites me, I step in. Introducing new directors also helps create opportunities for many technicians and artistes in the industry,” he said.
Initially, the team planned to release a song from the film but later decided to unveil a glimpse instead. The glimpse was launched by filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas. “I am thankful to Trivikram for his constant encouragement and support,” Kona added.
The film is slated for a theatrical release on March 13. Speaking on the occasion, Sridevi expressed her confidence in the project. “People remember me as Jabili from Court, but after this film releases, they will call me Rajamma,” she said with a smile.
She further noted the coincidence in release dates. “Court released on March 14 last year, and Band Melam is releasing on March 13. This story came to me immediately after Court, and it is very special. I strongly believe Band Melam will surpass Court in success,” she added.
Several film personalities attended the event to extend their best wishes, including director KS Ravindra, writer BVS Ravi, Bekkem Venugopal, and others.
