On Sunday, producer People Media Factory announced Zombie Reddy2 NXT LVL- Dead Or Alive as the title of the sequel to the 2022 Teja Sajja starrer. The announcement, which came with a title teaser, coincided with Teja Sajja's birthday. "Welcoming you all back to the ZOMBIE-VERSE. This time, it’s BIGGER, BADDER & BLOODIER. Happy Birthday, Superhero Teja Sajja," the production banner wrote as the caption for the announcement.
Director Prasanth Varma of Zombie Reddy, widely recognised as Telugu cinema's first-ever Zombie film, is attached as a creator and writer to the sequel, to be directed by Suparn S Varma of Haq and The Family Man season 2 fame. The film also stars Upendra in an important role and Tu Yaa Main actor Shanaya Kapoor in her Telugu debut.
Besides Suparn, the screenplay writers of Zombie Reddy2 NXT LVL include Hussain Dalal, Abbas Dalal, and Prasanth Varma, with Subbu K credited as its dialogue writer. On the technical front, the Zombie Reddy sequel has cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam, composer Gowra Hari, editor Vijay Velukutty, and production designer Banglan.
Mounted on a big scale, the film is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad through the banner People Media Factory. It brings Teja Sajja back together with People Media Factory after their collaboration on the hit film Mirai.
The makers announced the title on Sunday with a glimpse video promising a zombie experience that is far more ambitious than the 2022 film. The Zombie Reddy2 NXT LVL title teaser begins with a disclaimer revealing the non-use of AI for its development. In the glimpse, a zombie falls off a bridge onto a vehicle, followed by a piece of text that reads "Zombies are back". The makers eye a 2027 release for the film, also with dubs in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Nepali and Japanese.
