Tollywood has seen many top actors suffer injuries and later undergo surgeries. Recently, Nandamuri Balakrishna was injured while shooting for his upcoming film directed by Gopichand Malineni. Doctors performed surgery on his leg, and it may take a few months for him to recover and resume shooting.
Now, another actor, Balakrishna's nephew, Jr NTR, has been injured while shooting for his upcoming film Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel. The actor had been taking rest for the last few days, and on Wednesday, doctors successfully performed surgery on his shoulder.
KIMS Hospital released a health bulletin regarding Jr NTR’s health. “Mr NTR recently sustained an unfortunate injury to his shoulder. Following close consultation and follow-up care with a dedicated team of medical specialists, it was determined that he would benefit from arthroscopic surgery to facilitate a quicker and more complete recovery,” said the statement.
It further added that the surgical procedure was successfully completed. “The surgical procedure was successfully performed at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, by a team of orthopaedic surgeons, led by Dr RA Purnchandra Tejaswi, Dr Nithin Bejjanki, Dr Madhusudhan Rao and Dr Srinivasa Rao Surapaneni,” the statement added.
The statement said that the actor may take two to three months to recover. “We are pleased to share that the surgery was completely successful, and Mr NTR is doing fine. He will now begin a structured rehabilitation programme under medical supervision. Our doctors anticipate a full recovery, with Mr NTR returning to his normal self within a 2 to 3-month timeframe,” concluded the hospital statement.
The makers of Jr NTR’s upcoming film Dragon announced its release date as June 11, 2027. Prashanth Neel is directing the film, while Mythri Movie Makers is producing it along with NTR’s brother Kalyan Ram. Rukmini Vasanth is playing the female lead.
Now, with this injury and the surgery performed on Wednesday, doctors have confirmed that Jr NTR will need two to three months to recover. This could delay the film further. Dragon is a complete action film, and Jr NTR needs to be fully fit to perform the action sequences required for the film.
