Adivi Sesh has scored another success with Dacoit, which was released on April 10. Mrunal Thakur played the female lead, while Supriya Yarlagadda produced the film. Shaniel Deo made his directorial debut, and he co-wrote the story with Adivi Sesh. The film has now crossed the ₹50 crore at the box office and continues to perform well.
To celebrate the film’s success, the makers held a thanks meet on Saturday. Along with Adivi Sesh, lyricist Bhaskarabhatla, music director Bheems, director Shaniel Deo, producer Supriya Yarlagadda, and other team members attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Adivi Sesh shared an emotional experience from his promotional tour in Bengaluru and spoke about his desire to earn the tag of bringing good cinema to the screens. He recalled meeting a group of people during the promotions, including a lawyer from Tamil Nadu.
“When I was in Bengaluru for the Dacoit promotions, a lawyer from Tamil Nadu met me and shared a personal incident. He said he had been attacked by a group of people and was hospitalised for a long time. After that, he was scared to step out. He told me that watching Major gave him the courage to face life again,” Sesh said.
He added that the same person watched Dacoit immediately after being discharged from the hospital. “The first thing he did after coming out was watch this film. He said he loved it and had come specially to meet me. He spoke very emotionally. At that moment, I realised that while we keep thinking about cinema and business, we sometimes forget humanity. He reminded me of that, and also of why I make films,” he said.
Sesh also mentioned that members of the 'Major Sandeep fan page' gifted him an Indian flag at a public event. “When we receive so much love from the audience and the media, it feels like real credibility. Success comes only with hard work. I always wanted to earn the tag of bringing meaningful cinema to theatres, and this film has given me that satisfaction,” he added.
Talking about the making of the film, Sesh said, “Meeting that lawyer felt like a shield for me. We shot in extreme conditions, including mountains with temperatures touching 45 degrees. We faced risky situations, especially during the climax. We worked very hard to give the audience a realistic experience. The film blends technical strength with strong emotions.”
He further noted that the film was made in two languages to reach a wider audience. “I felt very happy when I saw Ram Charan’s tweet, and Nani also spoke about the film. When the film crossed ₹50 crore, the appreciation from the media made us feel that our efforts were recognised. I thank the audience for their support,” he said.
Sesh also highlighted the response to the film’s music. “Many people appreciated the climax background score, composed by Bheems. This is the first musical hit in my career, and all four songs from the film are trending,” he said.
