Anushka Shetty has announced that she will be stepping away from social media for a while. The actor, fresh off her recent release Ghaati, took to her official page on Friday to share a note with her followers.
“Trading blue light to candlelight… I will be stepping away from social media for a bit, just to reconnect to the world and work beyond the scrolling, to where we all actually started,” she wrote. Adding a reassuring note to her fans, she continued, “See you all soon with more stories and more love… always forever… Smile always. Love, Anushka.”
The announcement comes shortly after the release of Ghaati, directed by Krish Jagarlamudi. Produced by UV Creations and First Frame Entertainments, the action-drama is set in the tribal heartlands of Andhra Pradesh and revolves around how an unsuspecting community is pulled into the grip of a sprawling drug mafia. Anushka plays Sheelavathi, a bus conductor whose life with her partner Raju (Vikram Prabhu) takes a dark turn as their community realises the danger it faces.
The film also stars Jagapathi Babu, Chaitanya Rao and Ravindra Vijay. With dialogues by Sai Madhav Burra, art design by National Award-winner Thota Tharani and cinematography by Manojh Reddy Katasani, Ghaati brought together a formidable technical team.
Released on September 5 alongside Little Hearts, the film marked a return to a more intense and layered role for Anushka. Ghaati received negative reception from the audiences and struggled to shine at the box office and collected Rs 6.64 crores Nett at the domestic office as of Thursday, as per Sacnilk.
