Filmmaker Chandoo Mondeti, known for the National Award winning Karthikeya 2 and the recent Thandel, is stepping into new territory with Vayaputra, a full-scale 3D animation feature centred on Lord Hanuman. The film, produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments, is being positioned as a 'sacred spectacle' and is scheduled for a grand release during Dussehra 2026.
Unveiled with a striking announcement poster of Hanuman standing atop a hill while Lanka burns in the distance, the film has been described as more than just another mythological retelling. “This is not just a movie, it is a sacred spectacle, where temples meet theatres,” the makers wrote.
After Mahavatar Narsimha made waves, Vayaputra marks a significant leap for Telugu cinema into the devotional epic space through advanced animation. With Mondeti at the helm, the film aims to combine traditional storytelling with cutting-edge visual technology. The film is gearing up to release worldwide in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
Sithara Entertainments is backing the film. Producer Naga Vamsi has promised an immersive experience designed to bring the grandeur of the story. The makers are touting Vayaputra as a milestone in devotional storytelling on screen, blending mythology, animation, and spectacle into one cinematic offering.
While details of the voice cast and technical crew remain under wraps, the project is already drawing attention for its scale and ambition.
