Pawan Kalyan is yet to hit theatres with his much-awaited gangster saga They Call Him OG, but the box office storm has already begun in North America. As per Sacnilk on Thursday, the film has crossed the $1 million mark in pre-sales for its US premieres making it the fastest Telugu title to ever achieve the milestone, that too with three weeks still left for release on September 25.
According to the official update from the makers, OG has already sold over 32,000 tickets across multiple locations in North America, setting the stage for packed premiere shows. The film’s advance sales are being handled by Prathyangira Cinemas, who are now bracing for an even bigger surge as the release date draws closer. Trade analysts predict that this momentum could give OG one of the largest ever opening weekends for an Indian film in the US market.
Directed by Sujeeth, OG stars Pawan Kalyan as Ojas Gambheera, a gangster returning from exile to Mumbai for a high-stakes mission. The film features Priyanka Arul Mohan as the leading lady, with Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi making his Telugu debut as the antagonist. The ensemble cast also includes Prakash Raj, Sriya Reddy, Arjun Das, Shaam and Harish Uthaman.
Backed by DVV Entertainment, the film is positioned as a slick gangster action drama with a global backdrop. Cinematographers Ravi K Chandran and Manoj Paramahamsa, production designer A S Prakash, and music director Thaman S round out a strong technical crew.
Interestingly, OG has reached this milestone even before the theatrical trailer has been released. The hype has largely been fuelled by teaser glimpses, posters, and Pawan Kalyan’s formidable overseas following. Each update from the production has sparked conversation online, building anticipation for what many are calling one of the most ambitious Telugu releases in recent years.
