On Thursday, the makers of Vishwak Sen starrer Funky officially announced Kayadu Lohar as the female lead of their film. Funky is directed by Anudeep KV who rose to fame with his 2021 comedy Jathi Ratnalu.
Kayadu will be seen playing Chitra in the film. Taking to their X page, the film’s production banner Sithara Entertainments posted, “Adding more sparkle to the world of Funky. Welcome aboard the beautiful Kayadu Lohar as CHITRA.” The team also confirmed that the film’s official teaser will be unveiled on October 10.
In a recent interview, Kayadu had said about Funky, “The film is an out and out comedy. Most of the dialogues are conceived and written right on the shooting spot. Every five minutes, there will be an extremely hilarious scene."
Kayadu, who made her debut with the 2021 Kannada film Mugilpete, attained stardom with her performed in the comedy-drama Dragon, the Pradeep Ranganathan starrer which released in February this year. Funky is Kayadu's 2nd film after Alluri (2022). She is reportedly also a part of Nani starrer The Paradise.
Sithara Entertainments is producing the film in collaboration with their frequent associate Fortune Four Entertainments. Meanwhile, Srikara Studios is onboard as the presenter. Anudeep shares writing credits with Mohan Sato, Bheems Cecicoleo is the music director for the film. Navin Nooli helms editing. Suresh Sarangam, known for his work in the Mathu Vadalara franchise, is the cinematographer.
Funky was officially launched in December 2024, with a shoot commencing in January this year. Touted to be a satire on film industry, the film promises to be yet another zingy entertainer from Anudeep KV after Jathi Ratnalu. Funky also marks second collaboration between Vishwak Sen and producer Naga Vamsi, after the 2024 film Gangs of Godavari.
