The makers of Mass Jathara, starring Ravi Teja and Sreeleela, have responded to the ongoing social media chatter surrounding their latest track, ‘Ole Ole’. The peppy number, which dropped a while ago, drew flak online for carrying “abusive” or “problematic” lyrics. But the team insists the outrage is misplaced and that audiences will understand the context once they see it on screen.
Speaking in an interview with Suma, director Bhanu Bhogavarapu dismissed the controversy, saying, “Some are calling other films bold, but they have an issue only with my film. In our villages, during local fests, people narrate cheeky stories. They might sound abusive, but in reality, they aren’t.”
Backing him up, Sreeleela added that the lyrics make perfect sense in the situation they appear in. “Those lines are apt for the moment,” she said, suggesting that what sounds edgy in isolation actually fits the character and tone of the film.
Ravi Teja chimed in with his trademark straightforwardness. “People are reacting only to the opening lines, not the fun that follows. Some English words we use every day are far worse, but when said in Telugu, suddenly there’s an issue,” he remarked, urging audiences to wait for the film before passing judgement.
Directed by Bhogavarapu, who earlier wrote Samajavaragamana, Mass Jathara promises a full on entertainer. Ravi Teja plays a railway police officer, while veteran actor Rajendra Prasad joins as his quirky grandfather. The teaser hints at a mix of action, nostalgia and vintage Ravi Teja comedy, much like his classic mass outings.
Produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, with Srikara Studios presenting, the film features music by Bheems Ceciroleo, cinematography by Vidhu Ayyanna, and editing by Navin Nooli. Mass Jathara is gearing up for release on October 31.
