Vaa Vaathiyaar, The Karthi-Krithi Shetty starrer, has been currently scheduled for a December 5 release date, with the makers announcing the said date in October. On Wednesday, the team shared updates about the Telugu version release, also sharing the Telugu title for their film.
The Telugu version of the film is titled ‘Annagaru Vostaru.’ The makers also shared that Annagaru Vostaru will arrive in December, although no date was confirmed. It is likely that the Telugu version will release a week later than the original Tamil release, as many Tamil and Malayalam films often plan for Telugu states release.
Marking Karthi’s 27th film, the film reportedly revolves around a fanatic fan of legendary actor MGR, who raises his grandson like a reincarnation of MGR. The previously released teaser of Vaa Vaathiyaar had scenes of Karthi's character, who takes charge as a cop, shown to be flamboyant and accorded a grand welcome.
Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and bankrolled by KE Gnanavel Raja under his banner Studio Green Productions, the film also features Sathyaraj and Rajkiran in prominent roles. The extended supporting cast features Anandaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, GM Sundar, Vadivukarasi, and Madhur Mittal, among others.
Vaa Vaathiyaar has music by Santhosh Narayanan in his third collaboration with Kumarasamy after Soodhu Kavvum (2013) and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum (2016). The rest of the technical team includes cinematographer George C Williams and editor Vetri Krishnan.
Karthi was last seen in Meiyazhagan along with Arvind Swamy and Sri Divya, directed by C Prem Kumar. Apart from Vaa Vaathiyaar, he also has PS Mithran's Sardar 2, and Marshal with Taanaakkaran-fame Tamizh in the pipeline.
