Anupama Parmeswaran, whose last major Telugu release was the successful comedy Tillu Square, will soon be seen headlining Paradha, the social drama directed by Praveen Kandregula. On Thursday, the makers announced that they are planning to release Paradha in July.
Produced by Ananda media banner, Paradha also marks the Telugu debut for renowned Malayalam actor Darshana Rajendran, known for her work in films like Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey and Paradise among others. The film also features Sangitha Krish and Rag Mayur in prominent roles.
The official teaser of Paradha, which was released in February, establishes Subbu (Anupama) as a conservative villager who undertakes an adventurous journey with two other urban women due to financial reasons, but returns an empowered woman and decides to challenge societal norms back home. The film’s director Praveen Kandregula, who is known for his debut Cinema Bandi, also directed the recently released horror-comedy Subham, which was produced by Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
The script for Paradha is co-written by Praveen, Poojitha Sreekanti, and Prahaas Boppudi. Cinematography is by Mridul Sujit Sen, with editing by Dharmendra Kakarla. Gopi Sundar has composed the music.
The makers of Paradha are planning to release their film in Telugu as well as Malayalam. Dulquer Salmaan will be distributing the film in Kerala, with his company Wayfarer Films.
Renowned production company Prathyangira Cinemas have bought the overseas rights for the film, meanwhile.
